Join us on an exciting adventure into India’s lush jungles, where the magnificent Bengal tiger reigns supreme! Tigers are the rarest of the big cats and are known for their elusive nature. Coming face to face with them is a privileged experience. This trip has been carefully crafted to provide you with that opportunity. Prepare yourself for a remarkable adventure of a lifetime.
An extraordinary experience in two Legendary Locations
We’ve focused this trip on two of India’ best locations to photograph and enjoy tigers: Bandhavgarh and Kanha. These parks are part of India’s “Project Tiger” and their success in bringing back tigers from the brink of extinction is evident.
Bandhavgarh boasts the highest density of Tigers in the world. It is comprised of 168 sq miles of mixed deciduous forest, bamboo and grassland. Over 165 tigers now thrive here. Among wildlife enthusiasts in India, it is commonly said “In most parks you have to be lucky to see a tiger, in Bandhavgarh you have to be unlucky to not see a tiger.” Bandhavgarh is also home to more than 250 species of birds and over 25 other species of mammals.
Kanha, set on The Chhota Nagpur Plateau, provides breath taking views of grassy plains and Sal forests. This 366 sq mile preserve was established to save two endangered species: the Bengal Tiger and the Barasingha (Swamp deer). With over 100 tigers and almost 1000 Barasingha now present here, both species, along with countless more, thrive in this location!
Just 2 Photographers per vehicle: Throughout our game drives, we limit seating to just two photographers per vehicle! You will have a full row all to yourself so you have plenty of room for your gear and are able to maneuver and shoot as wildlife moves around us. Our setup ensures you can capture every moment of action in 360° without missing a beat. This seating is a critical detail and is the make or break between having a great experience and one where you are climbing over other people.
Our Permits – The Best Combo! Permits are typically issued as half-day permits and those make up the majority of our game drives (13 half-day permits) but in addition to this, we have included 2 full-day photography permits while in Bandhavgarh! These full-day permits are only offered in a few parks in India, so this is special! They are exciting because they allow us to enter the park before other vehicles and stay later and permit us to go into any zone in the park over the course of the day. They are the same permits that the BBC, National Geographic, and others use for filming. A maximum of 5 vehicles are issued these permits each day and we will have 4 of them! Sunrise to sunset and zone-free access. Total freedom!
Luxury Boutique Lodging
Each of our luxury lodges is situated in the heart of nature while still being close to the park entrances. They provide spacious rooms that face sun-kissed gardens or forest and are decorated in comfortable décor. Enjoy gourmet meals infused with local farm-to-table flavors, and providing a true taste of Indian cuisine. With just 18 rooms in each lodge and an exceptional staff dedicated to service, you will feel right at home.
More than Tigers! Each of our safari locations is rich in wildlife. Our photography will of course be centered on the Tigers, but we will also look forward to finding sloth bears, leopards, hyenas, Dhole (India’s wild dog), gaur (Indian bison), cheetal, sambhar, langur monkeys, macaques, jackals, spotted deer and of course a myriad of exotic birds – from peacocks to raptors to bee-eaters and more, not to mention all the other wildlife that call these jungles home.
Our Driver/Guides know what we want
All of our guides have vast experience working in these parks. They each have a deep knowledge and understanding of Tigers, their locations, and their habits and behaviors. They also understand our special needs as photographers, getting us into position for the best light and behaviors possible.
Two instructors
Our tour is designed for photographers of all skill levels. You’ll have two instructors, Steve and Nicole, by your side throughout, to advise you as you capture images of a lifetime.
Nature Lover’s Trip: While we cannot offer a discount on this trip due to our need to keep the group size small, this is a terrific trip for the non-photographer who loves spending time with wildlife. We actually have a number of non-photographers who love nature join our trips because we are not only fun to travel with but also spend time with wildlife, watching and enjoying the behaviors and activity.
Fitness Level: Easy. You will be photographing from the safari vehicles during our game drives.
