Logistics

Going to Africa and experiencing the epic wildlife that live there is a once in a lifetime experience and you definitely want to do it right! We will meet you at Kilimanjaro airport and take care of everything from there!

We have been leading this trip to Tanzania for years and have the best locations, timing, guides, and accommodations nailed down to give you that trip of a lifetime experience that you are looking for. We have structured the itinerary to maximize your time in the field, enabling you to experience life with the majestic animals that call this place home and create images under the best circumstances possible. Wild experiences and amazing memories await!

The Lodges

Our luxury lodges are in the wild habitat giving you an incredible Africa experience! It is not unusual to hear lions at night or see elephants stroll through the grounds during dinner. The views are incredible, the appointments of the rooms put you in the lap of luxury, and the food is delicious. We visited many different lodges and locations across Tanzania and hand-picked these particular lodges based on their proximity to our shooting locations, comfort level, security, services offered, cleanliness, as well as the various types and frequency of wildlife and nature photographic opportunities they offer.

The Guides

All of our guides are hand-picked and are people who we have worked with for years. Each has a great deal of knowledge and a deep connection and understanding of these animals, their locations, and their habits and behaviors on an intimate level. They also understand our special needs as photographers, getting us into position for the best light and behaviors possible.

Safari Seating

We will be travelling in “photographer friendly” safari vehicles. Unlike many overcrowded safari vehicles, we only have three photographers per vehicle. Limiting the number of people we have in each vehicle is a critical difference from most tours and is the make or break between having a great experience and one where you are climbing over other people.

In our vehicles, you will have a FULL ROW all to yourself. You will be free to make yourself at home and spread out your photography gear. And, most importantly, you will be able to photograph from both sides of the vehicle! You don’t ever have to worry about missing photographic opportunities because you are on the wrong side!

***Note non-photographer spouses or partners have the option (for an $895.00 discount) of sharing your row or riding up front with the driver on game drives. When in the front seat they will certainly see everything and be able to photograph most things out the roof. This is a wonderful trip to share with your partner and a great way to do it!

Description

We designed our photographic safari specifically to put you in the best locations Tanzania has to offer. Through this, you experience the vast diversity of wildlife that Africa is known for.

Unlike many safaris, we only have 3 photographers in each safari vehicle. This is the make or break between a great wildlife experience and one where you are climbing over others to see. This gives you room for your gear and more importantly, full access to shoot out of each side of the vehicle maximizing your photographic opportunities. Additionally, all the guides that make up our team know and understand our photographic needs for light and position. They understand the behaviors of the wildlife that we will encounter and anticipate their moves to ensure that we will be in the right place at the right time!

Our adventure begins in Tarangire National Park. Known as the elephant park, you will experience large herds of elephants moving freely through the land. Tarangire is also a great place to experience the beautiful birds of Africa. From Lilac-breasted Rollers, Bee Eaters and Hoopoe, to Eagles, Hawks, and Bustards, this park is alive with bird life. This is also a great place for leopards. On one trip, we had 6 different Leopards in just two days!

From Tarangire, we head to the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is home to large herds of grazing Wildebeest, Zebras, and Impala. It is also home to large herds of Cape Buffalo and huge prides of Lions that feed on them. We will spend much time with the “Crater Lions” photographing their interactions with each other as well as the prey that sustain them.

Our final stop will be the Serengeti itself. Here, we experience the joy and freedom of off-road diving. This gives us the opportunity to work our subjects, the light, and backgrounds to our full advantage. One of the main targets here are Cheetah. We spend a full four days here. On day one you will be excited to see a Cheetah, by days three and four we are only targeting the “skinny Cheetahs”, because we know they are about to hunt! You will be happy we saved this spot for last because all of the other amazing locations were just a warm up for this epic location.
