“Dine and Dash” - Ermine – Always on the move photographing ermine is like trying to take a picture of a ping pong ball with a black dot on it in a windstorm! So this image with a vole in its mouth is a prize!
“What Was That?” – Brown Bear Cubs – We got to spend a few days with these two cubs, and I can tell you, MANY images were made! This was one of my favorites from those days. I am not sure what had startled them, but it certainly got their attention.
“In the Willows” – Bull Moose – During the winter months survival gets tough. Moose subsist largely by eating willow and conifer trees and buds. In the summer months I was surprised to hear that willow make up over 90% of their diet.
“The Dance of Fall” – Bull Elk – Elk are some of those most majestic animals in North America. During the Fall the males gather a harem of females. They will often parade around showing off their massive antlers, which is exactly what this bull is up to.
“From the Timber” – Grey Wolf – This pack of wolves had been resting up in the timber all morning after feeding on a carcass all night. WE had been waiting for them to return to the carcass and were delighted when they crossed in front of this beautiful stand of lodgepole.

“Prince of the Woods” – Whitetail Deer – I have made tens of thousands of images of whitetail, and this is my all-time favorite. It has all the elements that I look for, great light, awesome pose, and a beautiful setting. It also helps that his neck is swelled with the rut!
“Out of the Mist” – Grey Wolf- I had spent an amazing morning with these wolves in Michigan’s upper peninsula. When late in the morning the sun cleared the trees behind me. Once the sunlight hit the snow this amazing mist rose from the snow making the scene extra spectacular! CC

“Old Friend” - Red Fox – We have photographed this fox and her kits for over five years now. They live along the coast of Newfoundland. It is nice to be able to return to locations and visit our old friends and share their lives.
“Lip Curl” – Bighorn Sheep – This Bighorn is performing a lip curl or flehmen response to check the readiness of a female to mate. Many ungulates have special receptors in the roof of their mouth to hyper-analysis scents.
“Frozen Dinner” – Bobcat - Beneath this bobcat is a mule deer frozen in the snow. This mule deer fell to its death from a 100-foot cliff a few days before. This unexpected windfall will help this cat through the tough winter months.
The Curious One” – Pine Martin – A rarely seen and very frenetic animal in the weasel family the Pine Martin can be a tough animal to get photographs of. Lucky for me this one paused for a moment for a portrait.
A Moments Reflection” – Black Bear – I was waiting for a Coyote (out of frame) to wake from a nap when this mother and cub walked out of the woods and to the pond edge for a quick drink of water. You must be there to get lucky!
